Flint Updates

3/06/2008 - Flint had a wonderful visit to his doctor (Dr. Laura Morefield at Rea Road Animal Hospital in Charlotte, NC).  Dr. Laura has Flint on antibiotics for 2 more weeks and then he'll be free to find his forever home.  The staff at the hospital cheered Flint on as they saw how bright and happy he is.   We are so grateful for Dr. Laura and the staff at Rea Road for the loving care and support they've given Flint, David & I.   We'll get some new pictures up asap.  Flint continues to flirt and play with our Doberman girls.  He looks forward to his playtime every morning and is quite a proud ball player.

2/28/2008 - On 2/19/2008 Flint had a wonderful day playing outside and then all of sudden he started pacing.  We stayed up with him until 1:30 a.m. and rushed him to the Emergency Vet where they found he had an infection and temperature of 104.  Flint stayed at the hospital for almost 24 hours and we were able to bring him home.  Flint is now better than ever and enjoying life with our female dobes.  Today, he started chasing Rebecca and she loved it.  She's 7 yrs old and doesn't normally act silly, but she sure enjoyed Flint's attention.  He's a little too friendly for our Traveler (doberman boy) and Lucas (English Fox Hound boy).  He wants to "mother" them and they want nothing to do with it. Flint stays in the sunroom with me during the day while the other dobes & hound sleep on the living room sofa's.  He is very loyal and loving as always.    We'll get some recent pictures on the site asap.

2/19/2008 - Flint did really great at DogHavenDogs.  He made lots of friends and enjoyed his outing.  He slept most of the afternoon.  Flint and Lucas (our rescue hound) are becoming friends.  Flint licks Lucas's ears and Lucas wags his tail.  Flint is crazy about our Daisy Mae (female dobergirl).  She's not too crazy for him.  Flint spends his days on his bed, in the sun.  He stays right next to me while I work.  He's a wonderful companion and we're hoping to find him a home where the owners work out of the house or are retired.  He's around 7 years old and is very content to stay at home and snuggle.

2/14/2008 - Flint is doing well.  We're excited to be able to take him to his 1st dog training class at DogHavenDogs this Saturday at 10 a.m.  Today he's out & about running in the yard with his PJ's on.  It's cold in Charlotte and he's loving the fresh air and his freedom.   Flint may also be seen by the fountain at Stone Crest shopping center.  We live across the street (White Oak) and often take our Doberman's to socialize and relax in the sun.  More on Flint coming ........

David and I rescued Flint from Animal Control on January 30th .

His family abandoned him when they left Charlotte.  Flint was taken to the shelter where he waited for his family to return.

They never came back.

The shelter staff did their best for him but his confusion and the stress of losing his family only added to his existing health issues.

We are now fostering Flint with the help of Carolina P.A.W.S. (Pet Adoption and Welfare Society).  Since leaving the shelter, Flint has been neutered and has undergone several hours of surgery.  He had 20 rotting and decaying teeth extracted to relieve extreme discomfort and disease.

To help cover the cost of Flint's medical expenses, we're making 1" wide dog collars out of a wonderful "Party" fabric (Collar Dollars for Flint). We're using our best silver plated snap lock buckles (they are shinny and hold up really well), silver d-rings and slides.  The base of the collar is strong yellow nylon webbing.  We cover the nylon webbing with this bright and cheerful "Party" fabric.  We will also add bowties to the collars when requested.

The cost of the collar is $20 plus shipping ($4.60).    Please us know if you would like a matching leash ($25), breed(s) of dog, neck measurement and any other special instructions.

Once Flint is feeling 100%, he will be available for adoption and we will provide an application for adoption.  We prefer he stay in the Charlotte, NC area (we would like to remain a part of his family).  Next Saturday (2/16) Flint will start his socialization and obedience class at DogHavenDogs in Charlotte, NC

If you would like to purchase a "Party" collar please email us and we will send you a PayPal invoice payable with any major credit card.
